Mr. Kim began his martial arts training in the Art of Kyuki-Do in the mid-1970’s at Kim’s Black Belt Academy in Elgin under his father, Ken Ok Hyung Kim, a martial arts pioneer who founded Kim’s Black Belt Academy in 1968. Mr. Kim began training in Brazilian JiuJitsu in 1995. Mr. Kim began training in Muay Thai Kickboxing with KhunKru Rick Faye of the Minnesota Kali Group in 1994 and is a certified Muay Thai instructor under KhunKru Faye. KhunKru Faye is a Senior Instructor under Ajarn Chai Sirisute, the founder, and president of the Thai Boxing Association of the United States who is credited with bringing the art of Thai Boxing to the U.S. in 1968. Mr. Kim continues to study and train in Muay Thai Kickboxing under KhunKru Faye and Fusions Head Instructor Ian Alexander. Mr. Kim’s current Black Belt ranks are as follows: a Nidan in AKF Judo, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in AKF JuiJitsu, 6th Degree Black Belt in Kyuki-Do, and Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Certified Gracie Academy Combatives Instructor under Rener and Ryron Gracie.
